What part do you play in the Entrepreneurs Hub team?
As co-founder and Director of Entrepreneurs Hub, I co-lead the business. I am responsible for securing our customer exits (M&A), steering our customer engagement team, and ensuring our customer experience is the best it can be. In short, I help business owners achieve compelling exits that provide value certainty. What really drives me is seeing business owners securing wealth for themselves and their families whilst providing a great future for their continuing staff.
What experience do you bring to the table?
With three startups under my belt, an international corporate leadership career, and over 30 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions since my first business sale, I bring both depth and perspective to every transaction. Although we are in finance, I strongly believe this is a people business and place great importance on recognising and supporting the emotional journey that clients experience during their sale process.
Beyond M&A, I have successfully led five organisational turnarounds, three SMEs and two publicly listed groups on Nasdaq and the NYSE. I have also served as UK Managing Director for Avaya and Azlan, and as a main board member of Tech Data UK, a £1bn turnover business.
For over a decade, I have contributed to the academic and professional development of future leaders as a member of the MBA Advisory Board at Imperial College Business School and as a visiting professor, delivering programmes on Mergers & Acquisitions and Investment Strategies for MBA and MSc Management students.
What do you like to get up to outside of work?
I enjoy special moments with my wife and my grown-up children; family is very important to me. I like travel, food, wine, writing and birdwatching. I also find touring holidays on motorbikes to be a perfect way to switch off from work. A lifelong and passionate Liverpool supporter, I see them as often as I can.
I am also energised about supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs, helping them bring their ideas to life. As I get older, this becomes increasingly important to me.
What’s the best thing about working at Entrepreneurs Hub?
Our team is fantastic, and I am proud to be part of it. I find real purpose in working alongside our customers to help them realise value from their life’s work. I enjoy the close bond I form with owners throughout the sale process… it’s such a unique journey. During due diligence and the final stages of a sale those relationships often deepen and I’m proud that many former customers have remained friends long after the transaction is complete.

What’s something we might be surprised to learn about you?
Many Chinese people think I am the only non-chinese person in the world to have visited every part of China. I have visited more than 70 countries.
