Intermusica attracts significant investment
Intermusica Artists Management has secured major investment from the Mouratoglou family
Entrepreneurs Hub is delighted to announce the completion of a project acting as advisors to the shareholders of Intermusica Artists Management. Here is a statement from the company’s website:
Intermusica, currently celebrating 45 years as one of the world’s leading classical music agencies, today announced a major investment from the Mouratoglou family led by Pâris Mouratoglou, a co-founder and key shareholder in Medici.tv. The investment includes purchasing a majority stake in the company. Stephen Lumsden remains as Chief Executive, while retaining a substantial shareholding, and the company’s board of directors and staff remain unchanged.
A French citizen, Pâris Mouratoglou has for decades been one of Europe’s most enlightened philanthropists, supporting major musicians and cultural organisations, including France’s major opera houses. An accomplished pianist, Mouratoglou is also a long-standing supporter of a number of major festivals in Europe and is a member of the President’s Circle of the Verbier Festival. He is the founder of EREN Groupe, a global leader in renewable energy, and was instrumental in spearheading the company’s investment in culture.
Intermusica is an award-winning creative agency widely acknowledged to be in the front rank of international classical music agencies. Founded in 1981 by Stephen Lumsden, Intermusica represents conductors, composers, instrumentalists, singers, stage directors, and tours major orchestras throughout the world.
Pâris Mouratoglou said: “EREN Groupe’s mission has always been to support the classical music industry, such as co-founding Medici.tv as well as supporting Verbier Festival and individual artists, in order to share the pleasure of live classical music at the highest level to the widest possible audience. In this context, I am delighted to be able to invest in one of the world’s leading agencies. I am very much looking forward to a bright future with Stephen and the Intermusica team.”
Stephen Lumsden said: “I am delighted to welcome Pâris Mouratoglou to the Intermusica family. This investment will provide many opportunities for future growth and development. It was clear to me from the first moment that Pâris shares our passion for music and our desire to support artists of the greatest distinction. As an innovator and pioneer in green energy, well before it became en mode, his twin passions around climate change and classical music speak volumes as to his values and ethos. I am delighted to continue as Chief Executive for many years to come and to continue leading our brilliant team of talented staff as we enter a new and exciting chapter in the Intermusica story.”
Deborah Borda, Chair of Intermusica’s Board added: “From the moment I met Pâris, it was a genuine ‘coup de foudre’, with an immediate realisation that this was going to be a very special relationship. It is truly rare to meet an individual so passionate about supporting musicians’ visions and ambitions and facilitating the turning of their dreams to reality. This partnership is a positive moment for our industry and sustains Intermusica’s core mission.”
