Distec Joins Forces with KAMIC Group: Expanding Display Solutions Expertise

KAMIC Group AB has signed an agreement to acquire all the shares in Distec Ltd, a company based in Manchester, England. The sellers are the company’s founders Noel Sheppard and Adrian Swindells with their families.

Distec Ltd was founded in 1992 and over the years has built a strong reputation and extensive expertise in touch screen monitors, industrial PCs and HMI, the human-machine interface. The company represents a number of world-leading manufacturers such as ELO, Nexcom, CKS, Wincomm, Siemens and others, and offers total solutions including support to customers in many different sectors in the local British market. Distec has nine employees and annual sales of about SEK 45 million.

Distec is a well-run company with a fine history and is a highly-regarded supplier in its product niche. KAMIC Group is already established in the UK with a number of successful technology companies, so Distec fits nicely into our group where we can offer organisational support, contacts and expertise for continued development and expansion.” says Fredrik Celsing, President and CEO of KAMIC Group.

Entrepreneurs Hub advised the shareholders of Distec Ltd on the sale. Entrepreneurs Hub director Andrew Shepperd comments: “Our research indicated that a strong European group with an excellent reputation for providing diverse technology solutions would be a good acquirer for Distec. KAMIC was a perfect match in this respect. We were delighted to see the acquisition and welcome the significant opportunities it gives both KAMIC and Distec to share powerful technology solutions with even more customers.

This deal highlights Entrepreneurs Hub’s expertise in finding acquisitive overseas buyers looking for help to secure attractive companies in the globally important UK economic arena. We expect to see more transactions like this as 2019 continues because the appetite for acquisition driven growth and market acceleration shows no sign of decreasing.

The previous owner and Managing Director of Distec, Noel Sheppard, will continue to have a leading position in the company which from now on will be part of KAMIC Group’s Electronics business area. Noel comments on the deal: “This sale to KAMIC Group makes Distec Ltd part of a larger group which will provide support and opportunities which strengthen conditions for a continued positive development for the company and our employees.

Entrepreneurs Hub Director Malcolm Murray concludes: “We’re delighted for Noel, Adrian and their families that we achieved the goal of finding an excellent acquirer who I’m sure will enable Distec to go from strength to strength. We wish them all the very best for the future.
