Entrepreneurs Hub advise on the sale of leading West of England commercial recycling and waste management business Bateman Skips to RSK

Bateman Skips Ltd is one of the most well-known and highly regarded skip hire and waste recycling companies in the Bristol/Bath area. Entrepreneurs Hub advised the shareholders of Bateman Skips Ltd, negotiating a successful sale to Cheshire-based RSK Group, a global group of companies delivering sustainable solutions.

Bateman’s recycling and efficiency credentials are impressive, with up to 95% of waste diverted from landfill. These characteristics stood out when it came to finding an acquirer, providing clear synergies with RSK which has a strong offering in the environmental sector, with sustainability one of their key deliverables.

Bateman has a strong track record of investing in plant and equipment resulting in an excellent reputation for operating a clean and well-maintained fleet across the local area, attracting clients like Biffa, Mitie, Lancer Scott and Hills Group. The company has also developed a stream of work outside of its local area through a brokerage service, which was attractive to anyone looking to integrate the business with a wider, national network.

One of Bateman’s key distinctives is its access to a purpose built 2.5-acre freehold waste transfer station which employs industry leading waste separation technology to achieve an impressive recycle rate of up to 100,000 tonnes and holds a 150,000 tonne per annum bespoke permit. This capacity provides significant headroom for growth to an already very successful business.

For shareholder and Managing Director, Lee Bateman, the drive to sell came from a desire to spend more time with family. Lee will continue to lead the business under the ownership of RSK with all the benefits that provides:
